It’s almost time! While we’d love to be with you in Vail, we’ll embrace the new virtual scenery.

Here are some handy details to help you prepare for CAIA 2020.

Before the conference, get ready to use Zoom

In advance of the conference, we recommend downloading the Zoom Desktop App. Doing this step ahead of time will ensure you can login without delay. If you already have the app, high five! Need to get the app? Click here to install the desktop app.
This helpful PDF shows steps for setting up your screen in Zoom to best view the slides, presenter and ASL interpreter feed along with enabling the interpretation feature.

Accessing the Workshop Sessions

Each night you’ll receive an email with the next days agenda and links to the individual sessions. The only way you can access the session is by using the link provided in the email. Attendees will be able to login to the webinar approximately 10 minutes before each session. All sessions are in Mountain Time Zone (MT). (Need to convert the time? Use this friendly time zone converter)

Asking Questions During the Sessions

With close to 400 attendees, everyone will be muted and video off. Only questions typed in the Q&A will be seen by the presenter. Given the number of participants, we can’t guarantee your questions will be seen if posted to the chat, nor that all questions will be answered. Some presenters will be happy to connect with you via email, so keep an eye out for that!

CAIA Chat Guidelines

  • Seek to understand before being understood; respect diverse opinions
  • Please stay on topic
  • Be aware of “air” time (share the space, listen, and be brief)
  • Be vigilant of your biases and fears.
  • Be open to discussing your own attitudes and biases.
  • Expect to be uncomfortable and lean into it
  • Engage with the head and the heart
  • Be an active ally – or better yet, an accomplice.

Self-care during the conference

Sitting in front of your screen/device all day can be draining in many ways. Take care of yourself during the conference with fidgets, perhaps you’d like to knit/crochet, color one of our CAIA coloring sheets, eat a healthy snack, stretch or change up your seating.

Accessing the Workshop Recordings

Recordings will be available approximately 1-1.5 weeks after the conference. Registered attendees will receive an email with login information (not to be shared). As a reminder, Cesar Cervantes session, Humor Secrets: What Makes Us Laugh? will not be recorded.

Please Don’t Share Your Access/Links

Help us keep the content exclusive to registered attendees. While registration is closed to view live, we will be opening registration after the conference to access the recordings and resources. Individuals who would like to register for the recordings may do so at

Content Warning: Because of the nature of some of the conversations we will be having in this conference, both with the presenters and within the chat, we want to acknowledge that even those of us who have been doing this work for many years can find our emotions triggered during the sessions. Especially within the backdrop of the pandemic and the systemic violence against BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color, we encourage self- and community-care.
