Designing Innovative Healing Retreats for Survivors
If you've ever gone on a camping trip or retreat with family and friends, you've probably contemplated how wonderful it feels to connect with nature, as well as with other people in a peaceful environment. How amazing would it be to provide a similar experience for the survivors you work with?? As with anything else in life: it is possible! Come and learn how your agency can thoughtfully design, structure, and facilitate a healing retreat for survivors of violence. Some of the many ways in which advocates can support survivors in their healing process is by linking them with others who share similar experiences, and by encouraging their connection with nature on emotional, psychological, and spiritual levels. Stories, guidance, and ideas will be provided based on DOVE's experience of planning and facilitating two such healing retreats in partnership with a sister agency.
