Parental Alienation is Domestic Violence

Alienating parents engage behaviors to hurt the other parent deliberately, intentionally, and methodically. We know children are hurt because of the loss of a loving nurturing parent. But if we stop there we are only looking at one part of the outcome. Domestic violence is defined as a pattern of behavior that involves violence or other abuse by one individual against another in a domestic setting and it can take many forms (e.g., physical, financial, or psychological) and have many outcomes. We will show that the behaviors of the alienated parent are rooted in DV and should be considered a form of Domestic Violence.
