When a person has a black eye or other marks on their body, no one questions that it’s domestic abuse. But, without any visible marks, victims are often confused and ashamed about what has happened. Psychological, verbal, emotional, and financial abuse usually occur gradually and over time. During this time a deep sense of trust and intimacy takes place.
