Survivor Initiatives in Current Culture

Humans are wired for connection. Alcoholics, drug addicts, and co-dependents all recover at a faster rate when interacting with peers. But many sexual abuse survivors are not interacting with other survivors. As a CSA survivor, first interacting with other survivors informally and then leading a non-profit that serves sexual abuse survivors, it is my experience that sexual abuse survivors also need peer interaction. How can advocates address this cultural myth that slows survivor recovery?
