Toward Inclusive Communities and Collective Liberation: Why Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs Must Do Social Justice Work
Promoting social justice, developing anti-oppressive consciousness, and working collectively to disrupt oppression in all forms, can create more inclusive spaces, expand efforts to end domestic violence/sexual assault, and further progressive movements striving towards safer communities. Such understanding among those who work with victims helps potentiate their work. Understanding the insidious and pervasive nature of oppression and how it manifests as interpersonal violence is crucial to victims, workers, organizations and community leaders.
