Understanding the impact of historic trauma on American Indian Children, Families, and Victima
This session will provide an in-depth look at the impact of historical trauma on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities and how culturally responsive care helps overcome not just the historic trauma and historic mistrust, but the actual trauma at hand. We will also discuss the unique needs and challenges of AI/AN individuals and explore what has proven successful in preserving and reunifying AI/AN families that are at risk of or currently involved with the child welfare system and or involved with the justice system as victims of crime.
