Using the Public Library to Meet The Needs of Marginalized Community Members

In 2015, the Denver Public Library became the third library in the United States to hire a full time social worker. As of 2019, this team has expanded to 10; and there are over 20 libraries in the country with similar programs. With the initial hope of better serving its customers experiencing homelessness, hiring social workers quickly led to libraries being leaders in social change on a multi-systems level for the needs of marginalized community members.
