Colorado VINE: What You Need To Know About Victim Notification

Come and learn more about the future of victim notification in Colorado.  This workshop is a presentation on VINElink, which is a nationally recognized victim notification system in 48 states.  Since the Colorado Constitutional Amendment for Victim Rights requires victim notification, this system has been implemented in 56 county jails.  Legislation was passed in 2013 for the state to now fund this valuable program, enabling us to bring more counties on board with VINE.  A live, interactive demonstration will be included in this workshop.  Explanations will be provided on how victims, advocates, and the public can register for easy victim notification.  Learn of the importance of this program and why YOU need to understand how VINE works so you can pass this along to victims.  A demonstration of how to register for VINE will be included.  While VINE provides the same type of victim notification for each county (whether rural or urban), each county may use this program differently.  Some counties use it as their primary notification, while others may use it as their secondary notification. Come find out how your county uses the VINE Program.   There will also be a presentation on VINEWatch, which is the protected side of VINE, that give law enforcement and victim advocates access to near real-time data that can be used to generate reports and notifications, track usage, register victims, and verify the timeliness of a notification.  This class is a valuable tool for Victim Advocates, Law Enforcement, Victim Service Coordinators and DA Offices.
