Roundtable: Engaging Youth in Prevention and Social Change

This roundtable will explore ways that communities and programs around Colorado are helping youth understand their roles as both actors and leaders in creating change. Facilitators will discuss the successful ways that youth have been engaged at the state level through the hiring of youth advisors employed by the State. They also will introduce the positive youth development rubric, developed with over 20 community-based organizations to identify ways to organizationally support young people. The boundaries for integrating PYD are limitless because at the heart of this movement is actual transformation in our culture, norms and engrained beliefs about young people – from seeing them as problems to fix to resources to cultivate and engage.
