Root to Rise: The History and Politics of the Battered Women’s Movement

The battered women’s movement is rooted in the feminism of our founding mothers. This conversation will examine how the field of advocacy has changed throughout the movement, with emphasis on how our early and ongoing advocacy and policy successes of the movement have shaped and changed our advocacy practices over the past forty years. We will examine the vision gaps these successes have created as the field has become more professionalized and advocacy has often been supplanted by a model based on clinical service provision.
