Legal Co-Advocacy for Deaf Survivors

The legal system is already complex enough, but what happens when a victim of crime identifies as Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, or Hard of Hearing? For these survivors, navigating the pathways toward seeking justice can be challenging when they communicate using a completely different language, and identify with cultural norms different from those in positions of power. A case study as well as breakout group activities will be utilized to demonstrate culturally-appropriate and accessible co-advocacy services for DDBDDHH crime victims.
